FONTAINE, Richard Gérard
1948-2023It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father Richard Fontaine at the age of 74. He left us on a bright sunny morning on Wednesday June 14, 2023, at the Montreal Neurological Institute.
Born in Hawkesbury on September 2, 1948, son of the late Gérard Fontaine and the late Claire McNutt, he leaves to mourn his spouse Danielle Véronneau, his children Marie-Claire (Jacques), Carl (Lindsay), Sarah (Luc) his adored grandchildren William, Olivier, Alexandre, Lucas, Sofia, Ava and Mila as well as many family & friends.
Richard was a vibrant soul; he had a tremendous zest for life, and he enjoyed every moment. He was a true ray of sunshine for all those who were fortunate enough to know him. A charismatic, funny, resilient, endearing man who was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Despite his prognosis, our Superman was a source of inspiration to all of us, he courageously battled brain cancer/glioblastoma in an admirable way with great determination until his last breath.
His contagious laugh, his unique sense of humour and his ‘joie de vivre’ will remain imprinted in our hearts forever.
We would like to thank and express our sincere gratitude to the staff of the Ste-Agathe-des-Monts hospital as well as the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital for the support, compassion and care they provided.
He absolutely loved the country lifestyle in the Laurentians where he lived for 30 years. Please join us at Les Sentiers, located at 2480 boul. Curé-Labelle, Prévost on Monday, July 3 from 3 to 5 pm which will be followed by a celebration/tribute to his life and a cocktail in his honor.
Dress code: Coastal attire requested.
We welcome you to give a donation in Richard’s memory to A brilliant night for brain tumour research.
